Strategic partnership for Developers:Day with Kariera.gr

Developers:Day is one of Greece’s largest in-person career events for tech professionals. Organized by Kariera.gr and hosted at the Athens Conservatoire, the 2024 edition brought together developers, employers, and tech leaders for a full day of talks, workshops, and networking.

HOW partnered with Kariera.gr to shape the event. We contributed to both the agenda and the content, moderating one of the key discussion panels and leading a hands-on (HOW standing for Hands On Works, remember?) technical workshop.

Moderating the cloud innovation panel

Giorgos Tsiftsis moderated the panel discussion “Building Tomorrow: Cloud Infrastructure’s Role in Innovation”, featuring speakers from MSD, Munich Re HealthTech, and OTE Group. The panel explored how modern cloud architectures are accelerating digital transformation and reshaping how companies experiment, scale, and ship.

The conversation covered both technical and organizational challenges, from platform modernization to team structure and emphasized how cloud strategy is no longer a backend concern but a core enabler of innovation.

Leading the search & reranking workshop

Dimitris Kotsakos delivered a technical workshop titled “Modern Search and Generative AI: RAG and Reranking Pipelines for Smarter AI”. The session focused on how developers can build smarter generative systems using search infrastructure, focusing specifically on Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines.

The workshop covered:

• Building hybrid search pipelines from scratch
• Combining Elasticsearch with rerankers and embedding models
• Structuring results to feed large language models more effectively
• Real-world examples and production-ready techniques

The session was fully booked and sparked great follow-up conversations about applying AI search in both product and research contexts.

Why we joined

At HOW, we care deeply about demystifying advanced technical topics and helping people gain practical fluency. Developers:Day 2024 was a great opportunity to share our perspective on both AI and infrastructure, not just from a theoretical lens, but through tools and methods teams can actually apply.

We also appreciated the event’s energy: developers actively engaging, asking thoughtful questions, and connecting across industries.

Reflections

We’re grateful to Kariera.gr for working with us to play an active role in shaping Developers:Day 2024. It was a pleasure to contribute content that felt both strategic and hands-on, and to be part of a wider effort to elevate the developer community in Greece.

We’re already collaborating with Kariera.gr on the next edition, Developers:Day 2025, to make it even more hands-on, relevant, and inspiring. Expect deeper technical content, fresh formats, and new ways for developers to engage with the tools, teams, and ideas shaping the future of tech.
